WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO "BE IFT"?

To some, it means being dedicated to the students and citizens we serve. To others, it means being a part of something bigger than yourself. Across the board though, members agree on one important thing—that the IFT is there to support and empower every member. And they're right.

Our union is made up of 103,000 dedicated professionals just like you. We are teachers, paraprofessionals and school-related personnel, higher education faculty and staff, state employees, and healthcare workers. We live in communities large and small across Illinois, from urban Chicago to rural Ullin. United in our union, we are ALL the IFT.

"The union provides me with a tremendous knowledge base that I can draw from and wouldn't have access to otherwise. I can focus on the many facets of my job, instead of labor laws and code."
