Clip Their Wings to Protect Your Pension on January 3 & 4!

11/27/2012
Veto session began in Springfield today, with 35 "lame duck" lawmakers joining their colleagues at the Capitol to cast some of their final votes before new elected officials take their places in late January when the 98th General Assembly is convened. Top political leaders have asserted they will work to pass pension reform legislation in the days ahead while the lame ducks are able to cast votes free from political reprisal. It is critical that we "clip their wings" to stop harmful pension legislation!

That is why the IFT and our union partners in the We Are One Illinois coalition are calling on members to come to Springfield on January 3 & 4. Plan now to attend this important demonstration of our power and resolve to show the "lame ducks" and all lawmakers that we are watching. We will not let them destroy the retirement security we have paid for and were promised! More details about the January 3 & 4 event will be coming soon, so keep an eye on your inbox and the IFT Web site for updates. Prepare to stand up for your pension on January 3 & 4!
