Get Ready for ELIS on July 1

The Educator Licensure Information System (ELIS) is coming on July 1. The IFT strongly recommends that all teachers, paraprofessionals and school service personnel visit the ISBE Web site now to complete the following steps.

Teachers and School Service Personnel
  • Print out copies of your current certificate showing endorsements and No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Highly Qualified status.
  • Ensure your license will not lapse. If your current certificate/s expires in June 2013, complete the renewal requirements and pay the fee to register your certificate by no later than June 30. Fees remaining will be carried over.
  • Verify that all current CPDUs have been entered in the ECS.
  • Print out copies of your professional development (PD) entries and keep a file with your evidence forms.
  • Print a copy of your current Letter of Approval to work in Title I programs at Here’s how: Click on the “ECS” box at the top of the page. In the “Educator Access” box on the left, select “click here.” Scroll down to “District Administrators Look Up Staff Here.”  Enter your Social Security number and last name.
  • Print a copy of the above credential. A TAS-N for Highly Qualified status will convert to the ELS. Once the license is issued, you will want to compare it to your former credential.
  • If there is any discrepancy with the approval you believe you should have, contact the Regional Office of Education (ROE) IMMEDIATELY to make corrections.
