Session Adjourns

Both the House and Senate adjourned special session today with no vote on pension legislation. Instead, lawmakers took action to create a 10-member, bipartisan conference committee to address the state's pension issue. Committee members (three democrats and two republicans from each chamber) have not been formally appointed, but the panel is expected to hold public hearings before returning to the Capitol on July 8 to convene.

The We Are One Illinois coalition issued a statement on special session and the conference committee.

"The conference committee appointed today is heavily stacked against protecting retirement security for working families and seniors. Even so, our coalition will continue to do everything possible to advance SB 2404, which is fair, bipartisan and constitutional while producing substantial savings for the state."

Please stay tuned for further updates.
