Register today for low-cost, online professional development


The IFT and Illinois Education Association have partnered with the Illinois State Board of Education to ring in the new year with another opportunity for convenient, very low-cost professional development for PreK-12 teachers. Register today for classes that begin as soon as January 13, 2016!

This program is offered through ISBE and is designed to offer high-quality, engaging professional learning online. The cost is $50 per course, and an Internet-connected computer is all that is required to participate.

The self-paced courses will be conducted over six to eight weeks, depending on the course chosen. Offerings include:

  • Implementing the Eight Mathematical Practices in the Elementary School Classroom
  • Planning a Close Reading Lesson Step-by-Step: Grades 3-8
  • Science 2.0: Using Web Tools to Promote Inquiry-based Science
  • Best Practices for Vocabulary Instruction in the Elementary Classroom

Depending upon the length of the course, 20-30 professional development hours will be available for each course completed. Participants may register for more than one course.
