Last year, President Obama signed the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), formerly known as No Child Left Behind (NCLB). ESSA brings a much-needed reset to the federal role in education policy, but educators, school districts, and students won't feel its impact overnight.

There are many Illinois state laws still in effect that must change before we can realize the new flexibility allowed under ESSA. Make your voice heard and be a part of the change!

Register today for a live video-conference to examine the role of stakeholder engagement and opportunities for supporting equity in Illinois' implementation of ESSA.

WHAT: “ESSA and what it means for educational equity in Illinois”
WHEN: June 14th - 3:30-4:45 p.m.

The video-conference will include a presentation by ISBE Superintendent Dr. Tony Smith on stakeholder engagement and ESSA implementation, followed by an expert panel discussion on ESSA policy development and implementation.

Background materials will be sent prior to the webinar. You can also learn more about ESSA and how to be a part of the change on the IFT's ESSA page.
