IFT congratulates JB Pritzker on his primary win

CHICAGO - Tonight, Illinois Federation of Teachers President Dan Montgomery released the following statement about the Democratic Primary for Governor:
“On behalf of the Illinois Federation of Teachers, we’d like to offer our enthusiastic congratulations to JB Pritzker and Juliana Stratton, real leaders who will put Illinois back on the right track.

Over the last several months, I’ve spent a lot of time with JB and Juliana, and I can say without hesitation that their victory is a victory for all working people. They are thoughtful, hard-working, compassionate, and they are ready for the work ahead.

Tonight, we come together as one team to elect a Governor who will stand up for all of us against the powerful special interests dedicated to destroying the progress working families have made. We can trust JB and Juliana to lift people up and bring them together, instead of encouraging conflict and causing lasting damage to our public institutions and democracy, as Bruce Rauner has done.

The IFT was proud to have been one of the first public sector unions to endorse JB and Juliana in their campaign, and we look forward to continuing our work together with them through November and beyond.

We are unified and energized, and together, we will fight forward and win.”

The Illinois Federation of Teachers (IFT) is made up of more than 100,000 teachers and paraprofessionals in PreK-12 school districts throughout Illinois, faculty and staff at community colleges and universities, public employees under every statewide elected constitutional officer, and retirees.
