Get a fresh start this fall with low-cost, online professional development

PreK-12 teachers, register today for courses that begin as soon as September 21st!

The IFT and Illinois Education Association have partnered with the Illinois State Board of Education to help PreK-12 teachers start this fall off on the right foot with an opportunity for convenient, low-cost professional development. Register today for classes that begin as soon as September 21, 2016!

This program is offered through ISBE and is designed to offer high-quality, engaging professional learning online. The cost is only $50 per course, and an Internet-connected computer is all that is required to participate.

The self-paced courses will be conducted over five to eight weeks, depending on the course chosen. Offerings include:

  • Algebraic Thinking in Elementary School
  • Planning a Close Reading Lesson Step-by-Step: Grades 3-6
  • Implementing the Eight Mathematical Practices in the Elementary School Classroom
  • Transitioning the Illinois Learning Standards for Science into the K-8 Classroom
  • Implementation of a Balanced Assessment System
  • Informational Text Literacy in the Elementary Grades
  • Math Talks: Engaging Students in Daily Discourse K-6
  • EL Instruction for the Mainstream Classroom

Depending upon the course, 16-30 professional development hours will be available for each workshop completed. Participants may register for more than one.
