Evaluation Empowerment arrow

This training was developed by IFT members for IFT members! IFT teachers from across the state came together in April 2017 to combine their talents and expertise into this new IFT training. This training is designed for preK-12 teachers who want to improve local teacher evaluation processes for their members.

All participants will come away with the information, advice and resources they need for teachers to take charge of the evaluation process, make it meaningful to instructional practice, and strategize ways to improve their current district evaluation plans. Participants will receive all course materials so that they can, if they choose, provide the training for all members in their union. The following course objectives will be covered:

  • Be proactive! Educate yourself about your evaluation tool, the law, state retraining requirements and the purpose of evaluation.
  • Become empowered! Take control of your evaluation and conferences.
  • Be resourceful!  Use your union and your teaching community to best understand and benefit from your evaluation

This course is offered through the IFT’s ULI program (North and Regional).  Or, you can contact your IFT Field Service Director to find out how to bring it to your local/council.
