Throughout the twists and turns of the COVID-19 pandemic, IFT locals around the state have played a powerful role in negotiating school closures and reopenings.

At the state-level, IFT has pushed for clear guidance on what level of spread would cause schools to close, manditory mask-wearing, proper ventilation, and testing. Without clarity and consistency from the state, some districts have not prioritized the well-being of school staff, and the IFT and other unions have been forced to draw a hard line against reopening schools.

These stories below are just a few examples of how the IFT and our local unions have partnered to ensure decisions are being made with student well-being and educator safety first and foremost.

Together we are #IFTSTRONG.
