IT is time to put people over profits
While the top 5% in our state are getting massive handouts from Trump, teachers and school staff, higher education workers, and public employees are being asked to do more with less, working without the resources, respect, and dignity they deserve.
But it doesn’t have to be that way. It is time for our political conversation to be centered on those who work the hardest, not those who can afford to speak the loudest.
During the first week of December, members in locals of the IFT and IEA around the state stood up for “People Over Profits” and “Workers Over Billionaires.” Your commitment sends a powerful and urgent message: our communities need more funding for essential services, public schools, and higher education, and the way to do that is not on the backs of working families who are already burdened with high prices, but by taxing the ultra-wealthy.
Your efforts are making a difference—and we’re just getting started. We’re inviting all members to join us in monthly actions on Full Funding Fridays every month leading up to May Day on May 1. These actions can include walk-ins, solidarity events, union shirt days, or other creative demonstrations that highlight our shared values and demands.
