Illinois Federation of Teachers Statement on the Retirement of Congressman Danny K. Davis

WESTMONT, IL – Congressman Danny K. Davis’s retirement in the U.S. House of Representatives marks the close of a truly distinguished career. Below is a statement from Illinois Federation of Teachers President Dan Montgomery.


“The Illinois Federation of Teachers and our members commend Congressman Danny K. Davis on a lifetime of public service. A former educator, he was a steadfast ally to teachers, students, and public workers, championing legislation to raise pay, invest in public schools, and protect collective bargaining rights. His legacy is one of integrity, principle, and a deep belief that government must serve all people, not just the powerful.


“Congressman Davis has been a giant in Illinois politics and a fearless advocate for justice, equality, and working people. After more than three decades in Congress, his retirement marks the close of a legendary career defined by an unwavering commitment to the communities he served. We congratulate him on his retirement and the legacy he leaves behind for generations to come.”
