As Teacher Appreciation Week (2-6) and Public Service Recognition Week (1-7) come to a close and National Nurses Week (6-12) begins, I wanted to take a moment to express my deep gratitude.
By now you’ve heard it many times before: The last two years have been nothing short of brutal for everyone, especially those of us who teach, serve, and care for our children and citizens. But having heard this before makes it no less true – or less awe-inspiring.
As leader of our union, I have been impressed and humbled by the work of our educators, public employees, school nurses (and all other school staff!) throughout this crisis. Despite the toll it surely took upon you and your family, you prioritized the needs of those you serve, dug deep, and found the personal strength to get the job done. It wasn’t always pretty and it sure wasn’t easy, but you never quit.
Your commitment and professionalism are unparalleled, and I could not be prouder of each and every one of our members. YOU are what makes us #IFTstrong.
During these important weeks designated to recognize you, please know that your union understands and appreciates the work you’ve done – and continue to do. We are amazed by you. And we celebrate you every day of the year.
