Elgin Community College Faculty Association Ratify Agreement

Elgin, IL - This past Saturday, February 28, 2026, the members of the Elgin Community College Faculty Association (ECCFA, Local 3791) voted to ratify their tentative agreement with the Board of Trustees. The support for the agreement was nearly unanimous. ECCFA President Dan Kernler, Professor of Mathematics released the following statement:
“We appreciate the time and dedication demonstrated by everyone involved in reaching this point. We are optimistic the Board of Trustees will ratify the agreement at their next meeting.”
Kim Tarver, ECCFA Chief Negotiator and Professor of Physical Therapist Assistants added, “We are grateful for the support of our members, and we recognize this would not have been possible without the strong foundation our previous negotiations teams built for us to stand on.”
The Board of Trustees will vote at their next meeting on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. No details of the agreement will be released until the Board has taken action.
The ECCFA, Local 3791, is a union of college educators employed by Elgin Community College. It is an affiliate of the 105,000-member Illinois Federation of Teachers (IFT). The IFT is a state affiliate of the 1.8-million member American Federation of Teachers.
