The IFT understands that members have professional learning needs in this time of COVID-19 and the worldwide protests against racism. We’re here to help!
The union is now offering members free training opportunities designed to address student and staff trauma, grief, and stress arising from the pandemic and the systemic inequities of structural racism.
Courses in the IFT's summer virtual learning series include:
Member Self-care During This Traumatic Time | July 9 - 1:30 - 3 pm
Self-care Includes Advocating for Yourself | July 22 - 1:30 - 3 pm
Teaching to the Times: Culturally Relevant Pedagogy as Key to Trauma-informed Practice | August 3 - 1:30 - 3 pm
Space is limited, so register today by clicking the links above.
For our preK-12 members, the AFT is also offering a low-cost virtual Summer Educator Academy. Courses cover a wide range of topics, and some courses are specifically designed for PSRPs. Both the IFT and AFT courses provide Illinois PD credits for preK-12 license renewal through the IFT’s Union Professional Issues Department. After you have registered and attended the courses, you will receive the documentation you need to receive your PD credit.
