Next Wednesday, October 29th, we’re going to Springfield.
In other states, such as New Mexico, the governor is utilizing special sessions to address Trump's cuts by investing in food security, health care, and the essential services that our schools and communities depend on.
We’re calling on Governor Pritzker and the Illinois General Assembly to follow suit. You don’t fight cuts with cuts; you fight cuts by delivering what our communities need across the state.

CHICAGO: Buses leave Chicago from CTU, 1901 West Carroll at 6:30 a.m.
METRO EAST: Buses leave the Metro East area from Drury Inn and Suites in Fairview Heights at 8:00 a.m.
As your newly elected IFT officers, President Stacy Davis Gates, Executive Vice President Cyndi Oberle-Dahm, Secretary-Treasurer Pankaj Sharma, and Membership Secretary John Miller, we will join members in Springfield during the fall veto session to call on Governor JB Pritzker and the General Assembly to raise sustainable, fair revenue for our future.
The evidence-based formula and the past budget for higher education are promises that have been made but not kept to Illinois’ young people.
While the top 5% in our state are getting massive handouts from Trump, teachers and school staff, higher education workers, and public employees are being asked to do more with less, working without the resources, respect, and dignity they deserve.
But it doesn’t have to be that way. When Gov. Pritzker visited our convention on Sunday, he told us, “There’s more to do and more to come.” He said, “Teachers are who help solve the world’s problems.” So, we’re going to Springfield to help him solve this one. We’ll start with ending a tax system that favors the wealthy while starving public education and key services.
We hope to see you there,
Stacy Davis Gates IFT President
Cyndi Oberle-Dahm IFT Executive Vice President
Pankaj Sharma IFT Secretary-Treasurer
John Miller IFT Membership Secretary
