This year, BlackLivesMatter at School (BLMAS) Week occurs February 6-10. The IFT continues to prioritize the fight for racial justice in our unions, schools, and communities, and we encourage you to take part in activities in support of this important week of recognition.
Learn more about how you and your students can participate during Black Lives Matter at School Week:
Visit the National BLMAS Week of Action site, where you can find national events on Zoom for each day of the week, including a writing workshop, informational sessions, and collective activities.
Invite your students to participate in the yearly creative challenge. This year's challenge invites students to answer the question, "How can a school community support you in being unapologetically Black?" Submissions are due February 12.
Check out the BLMAS Curriculum Guide for resources to help incorporate racial justice and lessons for challenging oppression in your teaching.
Take a look at our diversity, equity, inclusion, and racial justice resources, and learn how you can help tackle racism in our union. Resources include information about sustainable community schools, the truth about Critical Race Theory, student resources, videos, and more.
We encourage you to join us in the movement for racial justice, not just next week, but every day. Together, we can carve out a new path forward and fight for the future we all deserve.
